There is a bush lodge and campsite in Botswana named Elephant Sands. The slogan for this lodge is “Where Elephants Rule.” The campsite at the lodge is not fenced so that elephants can come to drink at the waterhole at the lodge. It is good that the lodge provides a waterhole with fresh drinking water for the animals since the water in the area is particularly salty. Sometimes there is competition between the elephants for water at the waterhole. Then the lower ranking elephants have to come up with another plan.
There are some guest bathrooms with rocks around them to help keep the elephants away. But, sometimes, the elephants will smell the water and walk over the rocks, and stretch their trunk over the bathroom wall to the toilet below to get a drink!
Yes, elephants really do rule at this lodge! You never know what wildlife will do that surprises us humans! #elephants #water #Africa
